Sediment Filters

There are two main types of carbon filters used in RO systems: granular activated carbon (GAC) filters and block carbon filters.

Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) Filters

GAC filters are made up of small, granular pieces of activated carbon. The large surface area of the activated carbon provides numerous sites for adsorption. When water passes through the GAC filter, organic compounds, chlorine, and other contaminants adhere to the surface of the carbon particles.

Reverse Osmosis Membrane

The heart of the RO Pure Water System is the reverse osmosis membrane. This is where the most critical filtration process takes place.

The RO membrane is a semi – permeable membrane that allows water molecules to pass through while blocking the passage of dissolved salts, heavy metals, bacteria, viruses, and other contaminants. The process of reverse osmosis works by applying pressure to the water on one side of the membrane, forcing it through the tiny pores in the membrane.

The pores in an RO membrane are extremely small, typically on the order of 0.0001 microns. This is small enough to block almost all contaminants, except for water molecules and a few very small gases. As a result, the water that passes through the RO membrane is highly purified.

Our RO membranes are made from high – quality materials that are designed to have high rejection rates for contaminants. They are also resistant to fouling and scaling, which helps to maintain their performance over time. However, the performance of the RO membrane can be affected by factors such as water pressure, temperature, and the quality of the pre – treated water. Post – Filters

After the water has passed through the RO membrane, it may still contain some very small contaminants or have a slightly flat taste. Post – filters are used to polish the water and improve its final quality.

A common type of post – filter used in RO systems is a small carbon filter. This post – carbon filter helps to remove any remaining tastes, odors, and trace contaminants that may have passed through the RO membrane. It also gives the water a more refreshing taste.
